Characters in Yags can be greatly varied in their backgrounds and ability. Some settings may have their own character generation system, and this is recommended for specific settings in order to help set the scene and retain the flavour of the setting being used.

To help give a feel for what a Yags character looks like, some sample characters are included below, for a number of different genres. They are all based on the generic character generation rules, and are all 'starting' characters.

If you want to see examples of other types of character, then see the who's who on the Glendale website.

Campaign Levels

Character generation in Yags can be specific to a particular setting, however the standard generic version provides different levels of campaign, which define how good starting characters are.

It is up to the GM to decide at the start of the campaign what level it will be set at.

Character Progression

How quickly characters progress in the game will depend a lot on the campaign style. There is currently no definite process for characters gaining experience during a game, though the simple method of a few experience points per session can work just fine, though can lead to PCs going from inexperienced 16 year olds to super hero 17 year olds quite quickly.

What is planned is an experience/training system based around what characters do during their down time. In some campaigns, especially those where characters start off already Exceptional or Heroic, in-game progress may be slow, or even non-existent.
