Habisfern is the original game setting that was used for Yags, and is still a detailed fantasy world inspired by the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles.
The idea for Habisfern was first conceived back in 1996, after reading the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles. The idea of a low-fantasy campaign set in a low-technology world was appealing. In some respects it is similar to HarnWorld or ArsMagica, in that it tries to stay relatively close to a real medieval environment.
The world which Habisfern sits within is actually a couple of years older. To the North West of the central campaign area is the Isle of Taneith, a realm similar to dark ages Ireland which first started Yags. Taneith is now part of the Habisfern setting, but is considered to be just one of the foreign countries bordering 'civilisation'.
The Habisfern Encyclopedia details the campaign setting in some detail, and Habisfern is considered to be the core fantasy setting for Yags.
