Some (mostly) minor modifications to the basic character generation rules have been published, and are available for download as PDF. The most important addition is probably the concept of Educated characters.
A number of example characters have been added to the website recently, many of them being mundane characters with not many skills. This raised the question of just what skills a modern character should have - after all, most people have done basic geography, history and mathematics at school, so what level of skill should this represent?
For any character with such an education, any school subject can default to Intelligence. This allows characters to know the basic stuff without having to spend points on basic skills. Since such education isn't a skill itself, it can't be easily raised, ensuring there's still a need for the individual skills if people want to be specialists.
There's a couple of advantages/disadvantages which play off this new feature (Poorly educated and Educated). There have also been a few changes in skills and techniques, notably making Etiquette and Intimidation techniques rather than skills
The main purpose of the example characters, of which many more are planned, is to try and push the rules in various directions to see where the gaps are. Recent character types have focused on low level characters - gamers and students who could be suitable for a modern horror campaign.
A recent purchase of some politically incorrect figures suggests a certain direction in which I'll be pushing things next.
