The last few months has mostly seem some tweaks and small additions to various aspects of the rules. The first set of these to be published are the Core Rules for version 0.7.6.
For the core, the biggest addition are some rules on encumbrance, and some rationalisation of how to handle small animals. Most of the other changes are tweaks to the text and layout.
Guns
Though this change hasn't been published in an updated document yet, the biggest change in the combat rules and skill lists are the merger of the two skills "Rifle" and "Pistol", into a single skill called "Guns".
This has been a possibility right from the moment the two skills were created, but they were kept separate in order to differentiate between self defence weapons (pistols) and full combat training (rifles and the like). However, it felt wrong to penalise characters who wanted to use both, and ultimately the justifications for keeping them apart felt weak.
Some techniques are now split according to the type of gun being used. There is one skill - but guns are still split into 'pistols' and 'rifles', and some techniques only apply when a weapon of the right type is being used.
Use of heavy weapons is still kept distinct as a skill, though this now defaults to Guns rather than Rifle. The changes to the Combat and Character rules will be published shortly, though as always they are in subversion.
